Chris "The Shirt" Elliott was brought up in SE London on a diet of Reggae, Soul and Jim Reeves (blame his Jamaican dad for that one). He started playing on internet radio a few years back on the original Sunrise FM and since then his stations have included the now defunct Vinyl Morpher Radio, Platinum Grooves Radio of which he was part owner, He has been known to hit the floors on various dance floors at Soul Nights and of course the infamous Caister Soul Weekenders but as his got older its more of a crawl rather than a spring. Shirty's dress sense (loud shirts) and choice of football teams (Millwall) have had people questioning his sanity, but his choonz are good so we let him in lol.

Chris presents two exciting programs on Hawaiian Pacific Radio. The Chris Dunn Reggae Show every Saturday at 8:00 pm and Reggae Through the Decades every Sunday at 6:00 pm.

The year was 1962. The scene was my parents’ kitchen in Philly. Suddenly, I heard something coming from the top of the refrigerator. Mom said it was a radio playing music. Right then and there, I was hooked! I asked my Dad to take me to the record store and bought my first 45’s, “Go Away Little Girl” by Steve Lawrence and “Ruby Baby” by Dion. A little later, I discovered American Bandstand and it solidified my passion for music. Growing up in Philadelphia didn’t hurt. At the time, some of the best music was heard on the great WIBG and WFIL. I also had a love for R&B music and became a fan of Motown, Stax and the soul hits of Atlantic Records by listening to stations such as WDAS-FM and WHAT. I knew then that I wanted to be a DJ, entertainer, and musician! In 1974, I attended broadcasting school and landed a job working in the mail room at WCAU-TV and radio where I continued to learn about broadcast media, with the hopes of catching a break in a major market in the USA. But fate had other plans. In 1977, I was offered a position at CBS Records to work in the mail room and learn the music business. I progressed through the ranks…mail room to merchandiser to sales. In1986, I was offered the opportunity to move to the Washington, DC region to manage a sales territory and I have been in Maryland ever since. This was by far the BEST job anyone could have! In 1989, I realized my dream as I took over as an on-air host for a local pro wrestling talk show on WMET. In 1993 when the show ended, another co-host and I developed the show for TV. We debuted on Public Access TV in Montgomery County, MD and Washington, DC in 1994. This show ran on air for 20 years before ending in 2014. In2003, I went back to radio, hosting a show on WYRE playing the great music of the 40’sthrough today. From 1975 through 2016, I was a mobile DJ working weddings, corporate events, family fun nights, and everything in between. I also managed to spend time in a wedding band from 1979 to 1984.

Started a broadcasting career as one of the voices to be heard on BBC Radio Bristol, on a Saturday morning in September 1970. (My producer advised me the others were ‘radio presenters’). I spent approx. 4 years at the BBC, presenting different programs as well as current affairs producer. I decided when my young family came along that perhaps I could have the ‘best of both worlds’ by trying my hand in ‘the business world’, and still work in broadcasting as a freelance. As well as being successful in Sales & Marketing Director etc. I have also worked for GWR radio, Classic Gold, WFM, Star Radio and Pulse Radio. Most of these were at the time very successful stations across the UK Southeast, South Coast and Southwest. As most radio presenters did at the time. I started out as a club DJ when the Soul Music genre was very powerful, with a growing following. It is encouraging to know that even after the time that has passed there is still as much interest in this genre as there was in those early days. The idea for Soul Vaults show was brought about after discussion with many people who were intrigued by the origins of ‘Old Soul’ and more importantly the lack of information about what is after all a key part of our musical heritage. I saw this as an opportunity to couple my love of the music genre together with my passion for radio. The show not only plays the songs but provides the background to the songs and the artists. In addition to Soul Vaults. I have also for the last 6 years been part of a team of 3 seasoned (OLD) radio professionals that have over 120 years combined radio/, producing a weekly show Old Gits & Hits. www.oldgitsandhits.co.uk that is really a sideways look at life, or even a ‘jaundiced’ view, in which we aim and hope to deliver in a fun and hopefully informative way. It is aimed at all age groups and in fact the feedback is positive from all groups and is now very successful and syndicated to six stations. The program was in the final 5 of the National Radio Awards 3 years ago, of course it would have been excellent to have won, however for as we put it ‘3 Old Gits to make it to the final 5’ we believed it was an achievement we are rightly proud of.

Lovin’ the music & wanting to keep it alive is an understatement for Gary.
He’s still at it today.

He first noticed ‘the sound’ at the early age of 8 in 1967 & eventually was brought up on The Jackson 5 from the very early 70’s.
He was presented with his very first record player, a ‘Discatron’ front loading 7” slot player in silver with two massive buttons!
Eject & Play…at that age & he thought, ‘waaaw, this is it!’
Although he had ‘the sound’ all around him from the age of 7, he confesses he didn’t actually get to choose & buy! his first 7” single until around Christmas 1973, when on a holiday break to family & armed with enough pocket money, he raced to a branch of ‘Woolworths’ in Pembroke Dock South Wales UK, then, over to the ‘record bar’ & bought a copy of The Staple Singers – ‘If you’re ready come go with me’ needless to say it got played to death & everybody ended up knowing all the words &! Gary’s favorite part of the song which was the ‘dubbl drum riff’ near the end.
He considers himself very fortunate to have been born just in time to fully appreciate what he calls ‘three decades of the very best music’ which he says can still be heard influencing so many tracks from the 2000’s. It's been such an honor to him to have ‘lived the time frame’ of Soul & Disco Funk music from its beginning.
His biggest kick is when he finds out that someone has ‘discovered all this great music’ & immediately loves it. That makes it all worth the effort.
He very much looks forward to having you around during the show.

In the 1950s, my interest in Rock ‘n’ Roll began when my sister and her friends danced in our basement to their favorite records.
After playing radio disc jockey in my basement with my friend Von, I moved up to the “BIG” time as a volunteer “newsreader” in Muncie, Indiana at WBST-FM while attending Ball State University (“Go Cardinals!”). To this day I can still remember the face of the engineer on the other side of the studio glass window as I pronounced “Tucson”, Arizona as “Tuck-sun.” Oops!
My first professional radio job was in Muncie, Indiana. I started as weekend newsman at the Top-40 station, WERK-AM where I was “One of the men at WERK”! Instead of reporting the news, I really wanted to “spin” the Top 40 Hits. Up the road, in New Castle, Indiana was my first chance to do that at WCTW-AM.
Since the late 1960’s, I have been a D.J. at many Top 40 radio stations from small to large markets including…
WCVS-AM Springfield, Illinois (When I accepted the job over the phone, I could have sworn the guy said he was calling from W “CBS”.)
KELI-AM Tulsa, Oklahoma
WCOF-FM (“Coast 107.3”) Tampa Bay, Florida (Worked with the Legendary Scott Robbins)
WSUN-FM (“Oldies 97.1”) Tampa Bay, Florida (Back with Scott again!)
WRQQ-FM (“Oldies 97.1) Nashville, Tennessee (Broadcasting from historic Music Row)
Tiring of working for “the man”, I purchased my own broadcast facility WWON-AM in Waynesboro, Tennessee. On the first day of ownership, I flipped the format from Country to “BIG Oldies 930” featuring Scott Shannon’s True Oldies Channel.
In addition to being a live, on-the-air D.J. I’ve spent the last 25 years syndicating my own program “Oldies Coast-to-Coast™ specializing in ’50s & 60s Rock ‘n’ Roll, which was broadcast on many radio stations throughout the U.S.A. Recently, I was selected by the National Top 40 Hall of Fame and Radio Museum in Chattanooga, Tennessee to broadcast my newest syndicated program playing ‘60s & ‘70s Rock ‘n’ Roll from the historic BIG JET-FLI studios (WFLI-FM-AM).
At Top 40 Coast-to-Coast(tm) we’re stuck in the Super ’60s. ’70s & ’80s, and we love it!
I know you do too. So, every week, roll down your car window, crank up the radio with Top 40 Coast-to-Coast(tm), Americas All-Star Classic Hits Rock ‘n’ Roll Radio Show(tm).
Will you do me a “BIG” favor? If you know of a radio station that is not broadcasting Top 40 Coast-to-Coast(tm) tell them to contact me.
Great Rock ‘n’ Roll…just like it used to be!

Album rock radio veteran Ken Rundel and his wife MJ host this ode to peace, love, and rock and roll from the George Carlin Memorial Studio in the Bamboo Peace Palace, Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Lynda Law presents the Lynda Law Radio Show each Saturday at 6:00 pm. Lynda is an accomplished singer and recording artist.

In terms of music as far back as I can remember I have always loved music and was playing my Mum and Dads records from an early age on my very own secondhand record player. It was not Soul but Rock & Roll and Crooners from a collection of 78’s that I had been given. I even pushed my mother into buying a pair of shoes because it came with a copy of “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” by Elton John and KiKi Dee. My introduction to DJ’ing came in the early 1980’s when I and a school friend use to DJ at his house on two turntables with a collections of vinyl records. We pretended we were on the radio and I have had the desire to play records for people's enjoyment ever since. I was not a Blue-Eyed Soul boy in those days but someone who was a metal head and got his enjoyment from bands like Iron Maiden and AC/DC. The conversion to Soul came later. I got into pirate radio station like Radio Caroline and Lazer 558 which I could listen to quite freely as I was living in Kent at the time, and they broadcasted from the North Sea. In 1987, I went to work in London and started to listen to pirates like Kiss and JFM who played mainly soul and disco. A light switched on in my head and I knew then that this was not only the music I needed to listen to but also to play; the trouble is it took me 25 years to realize that dream thank to radio Winchcombe.

Host of Soul Delicious

Hi, I’m Sandy Kaye and like most people, I’m really into the music I grew up with – the soundtrack of my life. I never seemed to grow past what I believe was the heyday of music. Of course, I’m talking about the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s when music exploded and musicians weren’t afraid to try anything. These are the sounds that take me back to my youth. The Blues and R&B speak to my soul. Pop and rock reminds me exactly where I was when I first heard the tunes. Sometimes it was driving in the car, other times it was at school or university and occasionally it was when I had met a boy and we shared a kiss.

As a journalist with a long history in both radio and television here in Australia, I’m also extremely passionate about a good story. So, when I track down some of my favorite artists (check out the episodes tab to see who I have so far) I always try to find musicians with great back stories and ask them to tell me how or why they made their awesome music. I really want you to be both entertained and learn something new each and every time you tune in.
A Breath of Fresh Air is my passion project. I wake up with it and go to sleep at night with it. I research, produce and present relentlessly and spend a great deal of time finding the artists you hear. It gives me a great deal of pleasure to share these stories with you. Together we learn about where their music took roots, how they navigated the road to success and what’s happened to them since they were at Number 1. We get in behind the songs and hear them too. It’s fascinating stuff and I think, makes for some easy, fun and super interesting listening.
ABOFA began as a covid project. It’s now a weekly, hour-long show that’s broadcast on radio stations right across the world and it can be heard as a podcast too on all major podcast platforms. Thank you for supporting me and A Breath of Fresh Air.
Please get in touch with feedback, comments or requests. If there’s someone, you’d like to hear interviewed, I’ll do my finest work as a researcher to track them down and bring them onto the show for you. Perhaps you might like to say hello too?
I read a quote the other day “the job is so fantastic; you don’t need a hobby. The hobby is going to work.” That’s me. I adore it.
I hope you enjoy A Breath of Fresh Air as much as I love creating it for you.

A unique radio show focused on relationship topics. Both have a different point of view. Steve’s from America… an opinionated ego manic.
Mal's an educated English girl who drinks tea and doesn’t like Steve having the last word!
It’s not only a culture clash but they confuse each other with the words and phrases they use from England and America.
Amusing banter with a dash of relationship advice for the listener… But who’s advice will they take?

I live just north of London, UK and am a lifelong musician having picked up the guitar at 12 years old. I love all genre of music and have played in many different types of bands from blues to dance to jazz to folk. Still playing in bands and love every minute of it. I have a special love of the Blues and sharing that love with you on the radio is a real privilege. My love of all music comes across in my show at the ‘Joker in the Pack’ feature where I play a tune that is not necessarily Blues but one I really love.

Tom hosts the Motown Memories on Hawaiian Pacific Radio every Thursday at 10:00 a.m.

Tony began his music career working in various entertainment venues and studying Audio Visual Technology in High School. In 1981, at the age of 21, he landed his first radio job in Rochester NY working for Mal-rite Communications as a Production Engineer. An opportunity arose and he was given a chance at recording the voice over for the WUHF TV 31 sign-off news. He eventually landed the midnight DJ shift at local Jazz station, WGMC and remained there until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1986. During his military career, In his off time, he worked every base club wherever he was stationed. Tony’s syndicated shows “Storm Warning” and “Memory Lane” are carried by 42 global affiliates. Storm warning airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10PM and Memory Lane Aires Fridays and Sundays at 8PM EST.

John Van Camp has been on the radio since he was riding his tricycle around the mean streets of small-town California. John is a morning radio veteran for many years, former TV host, podcaster and online radio pioneer, JVC still enjoys getting up at the butt-crack of dawn to entertain folks. John is a rabid — er avid — Disney fan. A former cast member and Disney Parks aficionado, you can find him most weekends (pre-COVID) at the Happiest Place on Earth eating churros, riding Indiana Jones and putting in 9-mile (WOW) days hoofing it between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. If you’ve listened for any amount of time, you realize that John is only mildly obsessed with Halle Berry…OK, perhaps more than mildly. JVC lives in Southern California with his family and Maggie the Wonderdog!
The lady of the hour hails from the Great State of Texas! Born and bred in the Lone Star state, she transplanted to California for the beach and hasn’t left.

Morgan was once the “Producer” of John’s morning radio show, he let her put her two cents worth into the show, and it kinda took off from there. Long time reporter of The Who Cares News, Morgan was known to drop by the station daily to give her opinion on all matter of Who Cares News… she really doesn’t care. In her day job, Mo is also a Nurse, which is good because the show has an expert on staff to administer band-aids and sage hand-washing advice.
You can also hear Morgan on a few online radio stations from time to time, doing what she loves best, spinning tunes and dishing on Keith Urban.
She’s a crazy cat lady and would have several if that were allowed by her landlord.

Radio Presenter Musician and Ageing Sex Symbol (well sexy voice anyway!!) on Hawaiian Pacific Radio presenting NIGHT MOVES RADIO Sundays 11:00 pm until 1:00 am. A dynamic music mix and intriguing conversation.
