DTRIC Insurance to exit Hawaiʻi insurance market

DTRIC has announced its intent to transition to a run-off insurance carrier in Hawai‘i; meaning that it will no longer issue new policies or renew existing ones. However, DTRIC will continue to administer all active policies, manage claims and meet its contractual and statutory obligations, over the next several years.

 

Green waste recycling facility to provide Maui compost

Hawaiʻi Organics Compost, LLC has opened its new green waste and clean wood pallet recycling facility, offering Maui residents and businesses a sustainable alternative to landfilling. The Waikapū facility is the largest operation of its kind on the island, turning organic materials into compost, mulch, topsoil and other products for local use.

On Oct. 6, the Board of Directors of Ho‘ōla iā Mauiakama Long Term Recovery Group hosted a site blessing ceremony for Ho‘ōla Hale. The building, located at Maria Lanakila Catholic Church’s Sacred Hearts School, will serve temporarily as housing and operations headquarters for Mennonite Disaster Service volunteers, who will dedicate their time and skills to rebuilding homes for Lahaina wildfire survivors.
